SIDEWALK SAFETY
Pedestrians belong there; bikes do not

"If the streets are for cars, and bicyclists ride on the city sidewalks, where can a pedestrian safely walk? In October, I was run over and knocked unconscious by a man speeding down a city sidewalk on a bicycle. I had to spend $1,500 in the emergency room.

There is an ordinance stating that bicycles will not be on pedestrian paths unless clearly marked that it is permissible. I ride a bicycle as well, and find Minneapolis very bike-friendly. Please, bicyclists, use the paths and trails clearly marked for your use and leave the sidewalks for pedestrians."

Ok, urban streets can be a little intimidating, but, as a cyclist, this is embarrassing. No excuse for plowing down a pedestrian to the tune of fifteen-hundo in ER bills. We can do better.
Lights, mirrors, eyes open, stay in the right lane. Let the sidewalks be what they're meant for. Ride safe. Have fun!
